Good app, easy to use

Got the Single Trip Insurance for my vacation. Process was smooth on the app. Policy documents were available quickly. No issues when I needed to check my coverage. Happy with it overall.

Solid value for coverage

I was looking for some Comprehensive Travel Insurance for my family trip and found Freely. I compared a few options, and their pricing seemed pretty competitive, especially with the multi-trip discount I saw mentioned. The app sign-up discount also helped shave a few dollars off, which was a nice bonus. It felt like I got good coverage without overspending. The policy had all the key things I needed, like Medical Expenses Cover and Cancellation Cover. Definitely felt worth the money for the peace of mind.

Worked out great for my trip

So, I snagged some Overseas Travel Insurance for my trip to Europe last month. Honestly, I didn't wanna deal with tons of paperwork, and Freely's app was super easy. I even added an Adventure Activities Boost for some hiking, which was cool. No major drama, but it was nice knowing I was covered. Felt pretty chill about the whole thing.

Decent coverage, slight app glitch

I purchased the Annual Multi-Trip Insurance and added Gadget Cover for my electronics. The pricing was reasonable, and I liked the flexibility to add boosts like Snow Sports Cover later if needed. The policy itself is comprehensive, and the claims process, though I haven't needed it yet, seems straightforward in the app. My main gripe was a small glitch during the initial signup where the app froze briefly when I was trying to add a second traveler, but it eventually went through after restarting it. Delivery of policy docs was instant, which was good.

Does anyone know if Freely offers any kind of discount for new users signing up? Or for downloading their app for the first time?

J Jacob Moore 1 week ago
Sometimes they do. I got like $10 off my first policy when I signed up through an app promo. Keep an eye out for those.

I think they often have first trip discounts, especially if you get the app. Not always, but worth checking when you're getting a quote.

Hey, thinking of getting Freely for my trip to Europe. Does anyone know if they do student discounts? Couldn't find anything super obvious on the site.

A Alex Gomez 2 weeks ago
Yeah I got one last year! It was like a special link through my university portal or something. Check if your school has a partnership.

L Laura White 2 weeks ago
I think they do, but it's usually tied to specific promotions or partner schools. It's not a constant thing like a general student ID discount, if that makes sense.

Has anyone had to make a claim with Freely? Wondering how straightforward the process is, especially for something like lost luggage.

M Megan Thomas 3 weeks ago
I had to claim for a cancelled flight. It was all done through the app, uploaded some docs. Took a bit but was pretty smooth overall.

My friend claimed for a stolen phone and said it was pretty simple, though they did ask for a police report and proof of ownership. Standard stuff for insurance though.

How does Freely compare to World Nomads? I've used World Nomads before but this Freely app thing sounds interesting.

G Grace Carter 1 month ago
Freely is way more flexible for adding stuff on the go. World Nomads is good for adventure but you pretty much lock in your cover upfront.

I think Freely is better if you're not sure what activities you'll do or if your plans might change. World Nomads is often cheaper for a basic, set plan though, in my experience.

Quick question about the boosts – if I decide to go skydiving last minute, can I actually add that cover on the fly from the app while I'm already traveling?

J Jeff L. 3 weeks ago
Yep, that's exactly how it works. I added a skiing boost while I was already in the mountains. Super easy, just a few taps.

Yeah you can, that's the whole point of Freely, their big selling point. Just make sure you have internet access to update your policy in the app.

I'm planning a cruise next month, does Freely's standard policy cover cruises or do I need to add something extra for that?

A Ashley Gonzalez 1 week ago
They have a specific 'Cruise Cover' boost you can add. I'd definitely get that just to be safe, standard policies usually have exclusions.
3
M Mary Rivera 1 week ago
Yeah, pretty sure you gotta add it. Most regular travel insurance doesn't automatically include cruise stuff like ship diversions or cabin confinement.

Is Freely actually legit? Never heard of them until recently and wondering if it's some new scam or something.

B Brian T. 2 weeks ago
They're legit, they're backed by Cover-More which is a huge insurance company. So it's not some random startup.

S Sam Clark 2 weeks ago
Nah, they're real. I've used them twice now. Their policies are underwritten by a big player in the insurance world.

can you get Freely if you're already traveling? like if my current insurance is about to expire and I'm still overseas?

B Brandon King 1 month ago
I heard you can't buy it if you're already out of the country. They usually require you to be in your home country when you purchase.

O Olivia T. 1 month ago
Afraid not, I tried that once. Most travel insurance companies, including Freely, want you to buy the policy before you leave. It's in the small print.
